NORFOLK LIONS’ YOUTH SOCCER GAME CANCELLATION POLICY
Soccer is a game played in all weather. It is NLYS’ policy that we will play games whenever possible - especially for the U6 and older divisions!
Games will be cancelled due to extreme/unsafe weather conditions or when the fields are unusable.
Division Managers are the only people who have the authority to cancel games. (Division Managers should not cancel any game more than 3 hours prior to game start time or less than 1 hour before game start time.)
When a Division Manager does cancel a game, they are responsible for notifying the coaches, the referee manager (for divisions U7, U9, U12, U17) and the league president.
It is up to the coaches (and must be approved by the referee) if they would like to shorten the games during poor weather conditions.
Coaches/Referees may stop/cancel a game at the field in the case of a sudden change in weather.
All make-up games should be scheduled through the Division Manager - who must check with the Field Manager for field availability and contact the referee manager if a referee is needed.
